Keep the author in the loop
I invented a turn-taking model for human-AI writing: author and model alternate one paragraph at a time, so the writer stays in the lead. I use it in my own writing practice.
A small unit of collaboration
The interaction stays close to the paragraph: write, request a continuation, revise, and keep writing. The author decides what belongs in the work and where to take it next.
That relationship between generation and revision is central to my interest in creative tools. I want the interface to support a person's choices as the work develops.
A tool and a practice
Malt is open source and cross-platform. Building and using it lets me work on the software and the writing together, staying close to the moments when a tool helps an idea along—or gets in its way.
